Instructions for the Informal Speaking Practice:

*Please read ALL instructions before doing any of this to prevent you from “messing up.”

1. Go here: http://clear.msu.edu/login/account_create.php
2. Sign up as a new user, using your actual information
3. Go here: http://clear.msu.edu/teaching/online/ria/conversations/index.php
4. Join the following conversations, being sure to type them exactly as listed here:

2. MTExMw==
3. MTExNA==
5. Once you have joined them, you will see an eyeball and other options.  Clicking the eyeball takes you to the conversation.  Once you’re there, select “real time.”  Be warned, this is real time, so as soon as you hear the beep, you should begin talking.  I set it up so that there is no practice, meaning you can’t re-record.  Please be prepared to speak.  Once you have recorded yourself, you will click to stop the recording, and another question will be read.  Complete all of the questions in the first conversation, then submit it by selecting the yellow triangle.
6. Then, begin the second conversation, which is the continuation of the previous conversation. Submit this one too!
7. If you would like to hear what you have recorded, you may click the eyeball again.  If you select “playback,” it will allow you to listen to what you have submitted, though you will not be able to make changes.  Remember, the best practice is your honest first attempt.  After that, you will only be cheating yourself!!
