Participation	Student is an active participant in class discussions and activities	Student is engaged, but not actively participating or refuses to do some of the work but does most of it	Student is aware of class, but not engaged or student does some of the work, but not most of it	Student refuses to participate for most of the class
Effort	Student gives his or her best effort, presents a positive attitude and does not give up when work gets difficult	Student's work shows careless errors, flat attitude, may become disengaged when work gets difficult	Student's work shows lack of effort, negative attitude at times, many off-task behaviors	Student does not try, rushes through putting any answer or gives no answers at all, distracted and/or distracting
Cooperation	Student is willing to work with all others in the class, and responds well when directed by the teachers	Student is willing to work with others of his or her choice and/or needs explanation / reminder before responding to teacher request	student is unable to work with other students without supervision, responds to teacher requests only after intervention	Student refuses to cooperate and must be removed from the classroom
Respect	Student shows respect to adults, peers and materials	Student must be reminded (1X)to be respectful of people and property, apologies if necessary	Student is disrespectful a few (2-3) times, but shows positive change in behavior	Student is disrespectful multiple times and does not change behavior after reminders
