7th Grade Science Syllabus

Curriculum:

The material that will be covered in our 7th Grade Science class will include;

The Scientific Method

• The 4 steps of Scientific Inquiry
• How scientists use the Scientific method
• Writing a Lab Report using the Scientific Method.

Life's Structure and Function

• What is Human Biology
• How are living things classified
• Parts of the Cell
• Mitosis and Meiosis

Ecology

• How Ecosystems change
• Biomes
• Pollution
• The Green House Effect

The Mature of Matter

• Atoms and Elements
• Compounds and Mixtures
• State of Matter
• An introduction to the Periodic Table

Grading:

YOU are reponsible for your grade. Your grade reflects the work you do in class. You earn your grade; it is not given to you.

Grading in this class is on a "points" system.

• Class work can earn 20 points
• Homework can earn 20 points
• Quizzes and Tests can earn 10 points

The number of points you earn is doubled to compute you grade.

Classroom Expectations:

• Be on time.
• Be prepared; bring all the materials you will need.  I.e. Binder, pen or pencil, highlighter and AGENDA.
• Be respectful of the others in the class.
• Follow the instructor's directions.
